PTO Meeting Minutes | January 28, 2020 | 6:00pm Lansdowne Elementary Media Center Attendance: 25 Welcome and Introductions Liz Hartzog Principal’s Update Stephanie Williams 1. Elizabeth Lane/Lansdowne Boundary Changes: Two plans have been made to move approximately 180 students from Elizabeth Lane to Lansdowne in August 2021 once the new school is built. One plan takes the Beverly Crest neighborhood (houses only, not apartments) and a few small neighborhoods on Providence Road. The other plan takes a cross section of the Elizabeth Lane area from Sardis to Providence on our side of 51. There is a public hearing at the Board Meeting tonight so Elizabeth Lane families can share their thoughts on the plan. Once the public hearing is done, they will adapt the plans or choose a plan and there most likely will be another public hearing. There will be another meeting at Elizabeth Lane once the new proposal is made. The final plan will be presented before the Board in May. We will be doing some bridging activities with the students/families at Elizabeth Lane. I will be holding some coffee Q and A sessions with the Elizabeth Lane principal and we hope to provide some opportunities for our students to come together. I will be asking some families to be at some of the events to share the positive things that are occurring at Lansdowne from a parent perspective. 2. Website: The CMS website converted back to the old website over Winter Break and most school and department pages lost most of the information that was on the site. We will be working to get all information back on the site over the next few weeks, but this process is very time-consuming and will take some time. I appreciate your patience! 3. The School Improvement Plan can be accessed through the Lansdowne page, though. The plan can be accessed through indistar.org and the guest credentials are included on the page. Past minutes and agendas are also included. 4. The letter that was sent home on 1/17 is the same letter that was sent home last year. Schools that have a subgroup labeled as low performing are given the TSI label. Just like over 100 schools in the district, we have this designation as a result of our Exceptional Children/Students With Disabilities subgroup. The district is providing a great deal of training for staff this year, including face-to-face and webinars, to help teachers enhance their ability to meet the needs of our EC students, providing grade level instruction, while supporting them with their IEP goals. Once you are designated as a TSI school, you keep this designation for at least three years no matter the increase in proficiency or growth. Our EC subgroup makes growth each year.
