Principal’s Update -ACC Reading competition-winners get to go to ACC Championship Game; Lansdowne gets a check from the ACC and United Way at halftime; 76,000 pages read by students; most out of all the 3 schools competing -Lansdowne is fully staffed now; in process of hiring 1 new counselor September Minutes -Haley Miedema approved minutes Committee & Event Updates -Fun Run Recap: Many thanks to all the volunteers and everyone who made the Fun Run a success; thanks to the t-shirt sponsors for allowing all the students to get a free shirt to run in; profit was $33,000 Teacher Feedback: website is user friendly and easy for teachers, new kids in upper grades need a little more information about what the Fun Run is (not just to K-1) PTO Membership -138 parents/families paid dues (27 are staff members), 46 people paid online -last year 119 parents/families joined (13 staff members), so membership is up Hungry Howies -collecting $400 a month from 2 Spirit Nights -may start Chick Fil A again in the new school year School Store & Spirit Wear -new items; hoodies $20, dry fit shirts $10; tie dye shirts $8 Mother/Son Event -Kinetic Heights, good turn out Room Parents -Class Party info going out this week Lost and Found -need 1-2 more volunteers to help each month Treasurer Update -already exceeded budget for Fun Run and Membership -bought pine needles for beautification day -$4000 for teachers to set up rooms -paid for 2nd grade and SBS field trips -bought 4th grade owl pellets -helped purchase TRC (text and reading comprehension) curriculum -Kinetic Heights outing for teachers before school started -extra power cords for chromebooks -new lion costume Mrs. Withrow -CLT checkers game-6pm on Saturday, Martin Luther King Jr. weekend -Feb 28 family concert; Arts and Science Council grant; Timmy and Suzanne Abbell- From Asheville Appalachian Style Music Closing Remarks -Penni Beth Crisp; please tell all parents of rising K to register now, even if sibilings are already in Lansdowne; only 2 lotteries this year -Sara Greenway’s mother passed away suddenly right before Thanksgiving so keep her in your thoughts Next meeting January 29 Adjourned |
