PTO Event Job Descriptions for 2021-2022
FUNDRAISING
Fun Run – This is our biggest revenue generating event of the year! Volunteer to staff the run, assist in soliciting for donations, organize set up, and break down. Also seek ‘sponsors’ for the event.
Fun Fest –FAMILY FUN! Bounce houses, concession stands, school store, ticket sales, arts & crafts, games and more!
Book Fair – Assist with advertising, set up, and break down. Assist students in selecting books.
My Spirit Rock – (year-round) Promote, answer questions and set up sign up genius (with payment) School Store – (year-round) Order product, promote, sell goods, collect payment. **PLEASE NOTE our insurance policy DOES NOT allow us to accept ANY items that are made personally to be sold at the store. We are not allowed to accept Hold Harmless agreements as well. Thank you for your understanding. ** Restaurant Night – (monthly) Promote, keep in contact with restaurant spirit partners. Identify other possible restaurant liaisons and set up dining events. Community Partners - Coordinate and collect corporate donation programs such as store Link ups (Harris Teeter and Target, Amazon Smile and Corporate Matching Programs). Also advertising, collecting and counting Box Tops for Education. This is moving to an app for collection. This one is just too easy; it’s free money for our school. ADMINISTRATION
PTO Membership - Update Groupvine with member email addresses to keep group list current, send Welcome notes. Room Parent Coordinator - Recruit classroom Room Parents; act as a Liaison between PTO and Room Parents sending reminder emails for common room parent responsibilities. Update room parent handbook and provide short room parent orientation to new room parents as needed. MARKETING
Beginner’s Day – Help with rising kindergarteners and parents visiting on Beginner’s Day at Lansdowne. Plan activities for students and welcome the parents. Assist the Committee Head with any needs. (Numerous volunteers needed). COMMUNICATIONS
Quarterly PTO Newsletter - Solicit newsworthy information, collects blurbs, creates and distributes quarterly newsletter. Facebook - Approve posts and requests for group members on private school Facebook page. Website - Manage website for Lansdowne PTO Yearbook - Manage yearbook production and order-taking |
SPECIAL EVENTS
IB Curriculum Night/Night of Kindness – Coordinate “Giving Back” events with staff for the winter IB Curriculum Night - Occurs during Book Fair week Family Game NIght– Send flyer, greet and facilitate families playing games. Coordinate with churches to donate pizza and drinks, research possible ice cream or food truck. Father Daughter Dance- Plan DJ, decorations, photo booth, refreshments, and ticket sales. Mother Son Event - Plan event for moms and their sons late fall. Last year’s event was held at Kinetic Heights. Spirit Week – (twice a year) Plan activities to be held during Spirit Week prior to Fun Run and Fun Fest events. Plan and recruit volunteers for Tape up Tuesday during each of these weeks. Storytelling Day – Find story tellers in our communities to read stories with enthusiasm and dress up in character, schedule classrooms for rotation. Career Day – Recruit volunteers from area businesses who will speak and share their work experiences with our students. Set up schedule, purchase small gifts, and send emails with information to speakers. Field Day – Last big event of the year! Recruit volunteers. Work closely with Coach Stephany to support him. Collect donated snacks. STUDENT ENRICHMENT
Character Education/Bucket Filler Awards – (year-round event) Assist school guidance counselor, Hayley Harris and Wendy Tymoff, with bulletin boards, taking photos of bucket filler students, distributing information to school newsletters and printing certificates for students. SUPPORT
End of Year Teacher Cookout – Cook-out at year end for Faculty & Staff. Volunteers are needed to coordinate and run this FUN DAY that the staff thoroughly enjoys! Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week – Coordinate volunteers to provide special tokens of thanks for our wonderful Lansdowne staff. This includes events for 5 days from small fun things to a mid-week teacher luncheon. Snack-the-Staff – (quarterly event) coordinating or ordering meals for school staff support and assist with providing faculty treats. This event is normally on Wednesday, coinciding with Early Release Days. Tutoring – work with students as identified by staff and teachers Copy Crew – run copies for teachers and coordinating volunteers Media Center- assist Media Center Specialist with various duties as time permits Lost and Found – monitor the lost and found in the cafeteria, post reminders on Facebook page and send unclaimed items to goodwill. Works closely with school guidance counselors to reuse items needed for students at Lansdowne. Den Dads – Dads volunteering at school. This is an emerging committee that can grow and determine tasks and responsibilities. In the past Den Dads have assisted with greeting students during morning carpool. Beautification Day – identify projects and coordinate volunteers for a campus clean-up twice a year – one in fall, one in spring Field Trip Coordinator - Works with grade level reps to assist with Field Trip planning to promote more field trips school wide Bus Driver Appreciation - Coordinate and distribute gifts for Bus Driver appreciation day. Capital Gift Fundraising - Work as part of a committee to solicit sponsors and large donors for future Lansdowne Capital Projects |
